30,000 jobs for Wolverhampton New plans to boost the employment in Wolverhampton have been unveiled, which could potentially increase the number of engineering jobs in the region.

The Wolverhampton Development Company (WDC) said it aims to see 30,000 new jobs created in the area by 2031, the Birmingham Post reports.

Stephen Catchpole, chief executive of the organisation, said the WDC's "most important task" is to help the area "attract and grow businesses".

"Our three year plan sets out how we're 100 per cent dedicated to working in partnership with others and by doing so become their partner of choice to bring about one great city of opportunity,"

The newspaper notes that over 100 businesses and civic officials attended the event hosted by the WDC at the city's Chubb building.

Earlier this year, Graham Mackenzie, chairman of the WDC, said that the city has "enormous potential".

By "identifying new opportunities and attracting investment", Wolverhampton will continue to be a "great place to live and work", he remarked.
